REMEMBERING

The 10/27
Memorial

The grounds of the reimagined Tree of Life will serve as the home of the official memorial of the deadliest antisemitic attack in United States history.

Designed by Daniel Libeskind, the memorial honors the 11 lives taken from us on 10/27 while providing an outdoor space for public and communal reflection at the corner of Shady and Wilkins Avenues.

Visitors will walk along a path leading them into a garden memorial where they may pause at 11 individual markers, each honoring one of the people killed that day.

Remember.

Designed to depict open books, they represent the Book of Life, where, within Jewish tradition, the righteous are named.

The design process was led by the Memorialization Working Group, an independent committee with a representative from each of the nine families whose loved ones were taken on October 27, 2018.

The group also included representation from each of the three congregations attacked that day – Congregation Dor Hadash, New Light Congregation, and Tree of Life – and was facilitated by the 10/27 Healing Partnership.
